On behalf of the German Water and Shipping Administration in Brunsbüttel, we supported the renovation of the lock deck and built a new system construction mooring rope building. This required all of our expertise: We not only provided a modern building, but were also responsible for the renovation and design of technically sophisticated auxiliary installations.
As a first step, our team has to professionally decommission the old mooring rope building and the sailor kiosk, organise the disposal and recycle the resulting rubble. Our subsequent duties included laying the foundation, underground pipe work, delivery of furnishings as well as the installation of a modern ventilation system with a heating register in the drying room. When it came to the interior furnishings of new mooring rope building, we focussed entirely on providing fittings that meet all of the workers’ job requirements. We planned and put together a drying room, a kitchen, a lounge, technical, changing and sanitary areas as well as a first aid room.
Immediately following completion, the lock deck plastering was restored and the partly reconstructed deck lighting was recommissioned. The operation of the lock could not be compromised at any time and very strict security requirements had to be taken into account. Our logistics team had a number of challenges to overcome when delivering the construction materials: As no heavy construction machines could be used, the building materials, rubble and building modules had to be transported by water.
Great to be back!
We were back in 2013 to supervise the construction of the 5/lock chamber construction site: Overall, we supplied and installed twelve 3 x 6 m2 containers for the ground floor and a further twelve containers for the first floor, with an attic and additional cold roof. The long service life is particularly worth highlighting, which, with a durability of at least 15 years, places particular demands on the manufacture of the products. The ÖkoFen pellet heating with 25 kW output ensures environmentally-friendly heating.
